The Nevada Air National Guard conducted a flyover over area hospitals in Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe Tuesday to honor COVID-19 frontline workers.

The flyover began at the Reno Air National Guard Base before noon and passed over Renown South Medical Center. During the following hour, flyover locations included: Carson Tahoe Health in Carson City; Carson Valley Medical Center in Gardnerville; Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe, California; Incline Village Community Hospital in Incline Village; Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, California; St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Reno; Renown Regional Medical Center; VA Sierra Nevada Health Care Center; University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine; Banner Health Center in Fernley; Lahontan Valley VA Clinic and Banner Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon; Renown and Rural Health Centers in Silver Springs.

The Nevada Air and Army National Guard have more than 1,150 Airmen and Soldiers activated in support of the state’s COVID-19 response, the largest state activation in Nevada National Guard history.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Air Force's Thunderbirds and Navy's Blue Angels are conducting flyovers in New York City and other cities in the Northeast to also salute frontline workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Their flight path started over New York City, then went to Newark, New Jersey and parts of Long Island. They'll finish off in Philadelphia around 2 p.m. ET.

On Monday, F-16 fighter jets flew over a hospital in Aiken, South Carolina and the state's Air National Guard flew over other hospitals in the region. Pilots also put on an air show over hospitals in San Diego on Friday.

President Trump last week announced the flyovers — called mission "Operation America Strong" — would be happening across the U.S.

"Operation America Strong was the idea of our great military men and women," Trump said Thursday. "The Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels crews who wanted to show support to the American medical workers, who just like military members in a time of war are fiercely running forward the fight."
