The City of Reno hosted the annual Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11:11 a.m.

The parade theme is “Service,” reflecting the military value and tradition of answering the call to duty.

The public joined in the downtown Reno festivities, honoring the service of our Veterans who passed in the line of combat, and those who did not die in combat but have passed since serving, known as Remembrance Day. The event also salutes those currently serving in the United States military.

The Opening Ceremony began at 11:11 a.m. with a prayer, the National Anthem will be performed by Cassie Harris, and the ceremony will conclude with an official City of Reno Proclamation read by Neil Anderson. The ceremony takes place near the Virginia Street Bridge, south of the Virginia Street and 1st Street intersection.

The parade started around 11:30 a.m. The parade route went north on Virginia Street from Liberty Street to 5th Street. Spectators (especially family and friends of participants) are encouraged to gather along the route to show their support.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Arlan Melendez, Chairman of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony.

The Reno Veterans Day Parade has been an annual event for more than 20 years, since 1998.

First Street between North Sierra Street and University Way will be closed on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 from 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  For more information about this road closure and others, visit Reno.gov/RoadClosures

The public will be able to watch the live parade and the virtual event on the City of Reno’s YouTube page at 11:00am on November 11, 2023.
