On Thursday, five out of 14 businesses failed an underage alcohol compliance check conducted by the Reno Police Department's Regional Detective Division.
The operation was conducted in partnership with Join Together Northern Nevada (JTNN), a non-profit community organization focused on addressing substance abuse in Washoe County.
During the operation, a 19-year-old volunteer attempted to purchase alcohol from local businesses. In each attempt, the volunteer provided their actual state issued identification, if they were asked for it, clearly identifying them as underage patrons.
Businesses that passed and did not serve alcohol to the underage volunteer:
- Maverick - 1391 N. McCarran Blvd.
- 7-Eleven - 4995 W. 7th St
- Cloud 9 Liquor Store - 3693 Kings Row
- Zippy Mart - 1690 Evans Ave
- Valley Market - 505 Denslowe Dr.
- Maverick - 1010 W Fourth St
- The Stick Bar - 95 N. Sierra St.
- Blind Dog Tavern - 50 N Sierra St.
- Ole Bridge Pub - 50 N Sierra St.
Businesses that failed and served alcohol to the underage volunteer:
- Our Bar - 211 W. 2nd St
- The Library - 134 W 2nd St
- Playfield 76 - 150 N Arlington Ave
- The Eddy - 16 S Sierra St
- Jacksons - 901 N Virginia St
