A driver is facing felony drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop that recovered 29 pounds of methamphetamine.
It happened on the evening of May 12, after a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of I-580 and Bellevue Road.
The driver, 28-year-old Jose Arias-Aquino, was arrested after a K9 unit found the methamphetamine in his car.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says he was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.Â
He's facing the following charges:Â
- Trafficking a Controlled Substance (400+ grams)
- Possession with Intent to Sell a Controlled Substance
- Sell/Transport a Controlled Substance
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine, 42+ grams)
- Resisting a Public Officer (misdemeanor)
