In Sparks, a police operation in an effort to combat the high level of shoplifting occurring in the area led to five arrests.
On Friday, June 21, the Sparks Police Department Neighborhood Police Unit (NPU) partnered with Target in a controlled operation made the related arrests.
One person was released with a shoplifting-related citation.
In addition to the shoplifting charges, two of the people arrested were also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
One of the other people arrested was also charged with an outstanding misdemeanor and a felony warrant.
The Sparks Police Department says it's committed to combating shoplifting within its community and will continue these types of controlled operations throughout its city in an effort to do just that.
