People are looking for ways to have a good time while staying cool during the heat wave.Â
A popular spot this summer, and for many summers, has been the Wild Island Adventure and Water Park in Sparks.
2 News Nevada spoke to parents and employees to find out why this is the place to go to beat the heat.
"Since the heat waves have started, we do see more people coming in trying to cool off in the water, beat the heat, going into the Coconut Bowl at Wild Island trying to find an air-conditioned place to spread some fun as well," said Wild Island Water Park Operations Manager, Sammy Linnenbrink.Â
Linnenbrink says that people come to the water park early in the day and when the temperatures hit triple digits, they head inside to the arcade.
But when it starts to cool down again, they come back out to the water park.
"It is record breaking heat this week so it's the perfect place to let the kids run around, beat the heat by going down the water slides and getting in the wave pool, the lazy river. There are so many options here, so we like to come. I like to sit and chill and the kids run around and have a great time," said Parent and Wild Island visitor, KJ Castro.Â
Parents also added the extra sunscreen and ice water go a long way in the heat.
