Fireworks are illegal in El Dorado County

El Dorado County Fire Protection District is reminding the public that all fireworks, including sparklers and so-called “safe and sane” varieties, are illegal in the county.

In an online Facebook post, the agency is urging residents to help prevent wildfires and injuries by attending professional fireworks displays instead of using their own.

“REMINDER: All fireworks are illegal in El Dorado County, that includes sparklers and ‘safe and sane’ types. Help prevent wildfires and injuries by leaving it to the pros,” officials wrote in a post.

Several professional shows are planned throughout the region in the coming days, offering safe ways for families to celebrate:

  • Cameron Park – The Summer Spectacular at Cameron Park Lake is set for Saturday, with gates opening at 4 p.m. and fireworks around 9:30 p.m.
  • El Dorado Hills – The Freedom Concert & Fireworks will be held at the Town Center on Thursday, July 3, beginning at 6 p.m., with fireworks around 9:30 p.m.
  • Placerville – The 4th of July Family Blast at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds will be held on Friday, July 4, with gates opening at 3 p.m. and fireworks after the races, around 9:30 p.m.
  • South Lake Tahoe – The Lights on the Lake show will take place at 9:45 p.m. on Friday, July 4, viewable from multiple South Shore beach locations such as Lakeview Commons and Nevada Beach.

The fire agency added, “Celebrate responsibly. Enjoy the shows, leave the fireworks to the professionals. One spark is all it takes.”
