Caltrans says Highway 395 north of Red Rock Road is back open after an earlier mud and rock slide Wednesday evening.

ORIGINAL STORY: 

A mud and rock slide north of Red Rock Road is closing a portion of U.S. 395 in both directions in California.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a Facebook post from the California Highway Patrol in Susanville.

CalTrans is heading to the area to clear the debris.

There is no estimated time for the road to reopen, and people are advised to take alternate routes.
