If resources are available and conditions and the weather permit, several area fire agencies will resume prescribed burning this week.
The burning of piles to protect Tahoe's communities by reducing excess vegetation, which is known to feed wildfires, is scheduled to be resumed on Lake Tahoe.Â
Fire crews from North Lake Tahoe, North Tahoe, and Tahoe Douglas fire protection districts, in partnership with California Tahoe Conservancy and Nevada Division of Forestry, will help with the pile burning.
Fire officials remind the public that with the prescribed burning, smoke will be present.
If you'd like to be added to the Prescribed Fire Notification List, you can email the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team at sm.fs.paltbmu@usda.gov.
