Fatal Crash CHP

One man is dead after a crash on State Route 70 near Vinton in Plumas County late Thursday morning.

The crash happened just after 11:15 a.m. east of State Route 49.

California Highway Patrol says a Ford F-150 pickup was heading west on SR 70 while a Ford Explorer SUV was heading east along with a Dodge Dart directly behind, driven by 63-year-old Danny Price of Loyalton.

CHP says for some unknown reason, the F-150 driver went into the oncoming lane where it collided with the Explorer causing the SUV to spin and stop on the dirt shoulder while the Ford continued on and eventually hit the Dodge, for a second collision.

CHP says the pickup driver was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment while the Explorer driver and his family sought medical evaluation on their own as a precaution.

CHP says emergency crews removed Price from his car and was flown by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center where he later died.

CHP says impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this collision.

The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the CHP Quincy Area office at 530-283-1100.
