Lanes are going to be reduced on I-580, impacting drivers in both directions from October 14 through October 17.
Drivers will be impacted from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, between the Mt. Rose Highway and old U.S. 395A exit 16.
NDOT is performing maintenance to prepare the bridge anti-icing systems for the upcoming winter season.
Lanes will be reduced to 55 mph through the work zone, according to NDOT.
NDOT says they do this maintenance every year for winter.
According to officials, the anti-icing system helps with the ice formation on bridge surfaces.
Sensors on each bridge automatically activate spray systems inserted into the concrete.
NDOT also says, "Each recessed disk sprays a potassium acetate anti-icing solution. Even with such infrastructure in place, it remains important for motorists to reduce travel speeds and drive appropriately for weather conditions."
