Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada (CCNN) has been awarded a grant from the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division to help improve the living conditions of low-income seniors.

CCNN will help seniors by providing them with one-time, no-cost home repairs and modifications. These modifications will ensure that seniors' residences meet essential health and safety standards.

“For many seniors living on a low fixed-income, home repairs and modifications are often ignored or provided with a cheap fix due to budgetary restrictions,” said Marie Baxter, CEO of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada.

“For many of these clients, one unexpected bill could threaten homelessness.  By providing essential home repairs and modifications at no cost, we strive to enhance the overall quality of life for seniors, creating a safer and healthier living environment.”

Seniors over 60 and adults with disabilities in all Nevada counties, except for Clark County, are eligible.

CCNN's Resource Hub will work with homeowners and contract with licensed, insured, and bonded handymen.

Repairs may include window trim or replacement, door and lock repairs or replacement, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, washer and dryer replacement, toilet modifications, grab bars, wheelchair ramps, fire extinguishers, and new refrigerators and ranges.
