With significant snowfall across northern Nevada and the Sierra, chain controls are in place on many area roads and through mountain passes.
Chain controls are in place on I-80 from the Keystone Avenue exit to Drum Forebay Road, as well as on U.S. 395 from north of I-80 to Doyle Drive.
There are also chain controls in place on I-580 from U.S. 395 Alternate to Eastlake Boulevard and on U.S. 395 Alternate from Eastlake Boulevard to I-580.
Mt. Rose Highway also has chain controls in place, running from South Virginia Street in Reno to State Route 28 near Lake Tahoe.
Chains are also required on Geiger Grade Road from Foothill Market in south Reno to U.S. 50, as well as on State Route 342 from Virginia City to Silver City and on U.S. 50 from River Street in Dayton to I-580.
I-580 also has chain controls in place through Carson City and there are controls on U.S. 395 from U.S. 50 to the California border.
Controls are also in place on U.S. 50 from U.S. 395 Business in Carson City to the California border, and most roads encircling Lake Tahoe have controls in place as well.
There is also a road closure on California 89 from Valhalla Road to One Ring Road.
