An anonymous citizen informed the Lyon County Sheriff's Office of a possible child endangerment/neglect situation at a home in Dayton on July 13.
They told them living conditions there were extremely poor as well as possible animal neglect and drug use.
Deputies found the homeowner in a nearby parking lot. After investigating, deputies found that Heather Harrison was impaired and they arrested her for a drug-related DUI. Deputies also found multiple children with her and under her direct care.
The Nevada Division of Child and Family services were contacted to take custody of the children. They then went to the home in question to get clothes and medication for the kids.
After providing a search warrant and entering the home, officials found that it was extremely filthy and uninhabitable (pictures below). There were also multiple animals living there.
Harrison is being charged for the DUI as well as five counts of felony child abuse/endangerment and seven counts of animal cruelty.
Her bail is set at $239,760.
The animals in the home were turned over to the care of Lyon County Animal Control Officers.
