The City of South Lake Tahoe approved $500,000 of funding to expand the Lake Link microtransit service, provided by the South Shore Transportation Management Association (SSTMA).

The Lake Link service is an on-demand rideshare microtransit service. Riders can access Lake Link through a mobile app and book trips.

Riders have access to ADA accessible vans, with a majority of them equipped with bike and ski racks, and will pick up and drop off riders within the service area.

The service is currently provided from the vicinity of the Highway 50/State Route 207 (Kingsbury Grade) intersection to the AI Tahoe and Lake Tahoe Community College area.

With the additional funding, the service will be able to expand to the west along Highway 50 to Lodi Avenue. Hours of operation will also be extended to 11:00 p.m. on Fridays on Saturdays. The new hours went into effect on December 1, and the expanded service area is expected to be in operation by January 2024.
