The Mineral County Sheriff's Office says a traffic stop Saturday night resulted in the arrest of a woman transporting 298 pounds of marijuana.

They say the suspect, Tatiana Ruiz of Houston, Texas, was pulled over 10 miles south of Hawthorne in a White Chrysler Pacifica with Arizona plate number CWT5245.

Deputies say they became suspicious of the driver during the traffic stop and requested a K9 unit.

The dog alerted deputies and they found 298 pounds of marijuana hidden inside six large black duffel bags (pictured above). According to the DEA website, the approximate street value is $1.2 million dollars.

Ruiz was booked into the Mineral County Detention Center for:

  • Trafficking marijuana
  • Obtain/possess credit/debit card of another
  • Basic speed 1-10 mph overÂ
