The Bureau of Land Management is issuing a Fire Prevention Order that goes into effect starting May 1st - through late October.

The order prohibits specific fire-related activities on all BLM-managed land in Nevada and will be in effect through October 31st of this year.

Among the things prohibited on BLM land are the use of fireworks, steel ammo and explosive materials including exploding targets.

Anyone who knowingly and willfully violates these prohibitions may face fines and be held responsible for any resulting costs associated with putting out fires or repairing fire damage.

The BLM says fire restrictions may also vary on public lands managed by other agencies.

You can check the specific restrictions for the area you plan to explore. The public is encouraged to visit NevadaFireInfo.org/restrictions for a map of current restrictions and review a map of agency jurisdictions in Nevada.
