Containment on the Van Fire has reached 80%, with full containment expected later today, according to Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue in an online X post.

According to an update from Perimeter Map, the evacuation warnings in the area of the Van Fire north of Sun Valley have been lifted.
As of the most recent update from Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue, the fire is now 50% contained, and crews expect full containment on Wednesday, July 16.
Original Story (7/14/2025, 8:23 a.m.):
A fire north of Sun Valley is now 30% contained.
After better mapping, Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue says the Van Fire is about 41-acres large after starting around 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
TMFR and the Bureau of Land Management are in unified command at the scene.
Perimeter Map shows the evacuation warnings for the area below.
The evacuation point is the Spanish Springs Library.
There have not been any injuries or any damage to buildings reported, according to TMFR.
In a post on X, the fire agency shared a video of the blaze.
Resources fighting the fire include air support, according to TMFR, which added that the fire is burning in the back country and is difficult to access.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
