Beginning this August, the Grand Sierra Resort will host Street Heat, a classic car show, in place of Hot August Nights on its grounds.

Hot August Nights announced last week that it will be moving its event downtown, after the Grand Sierra had been the headliner location for about 30 years.

GSR says it wants to continue to have a classic car show, so it built its own.

Street Heat will be August 5 through 8 in the new south parking lot, hosting live entertainment, food, drink, shopping, and all those classic cars people visit the Biggest Little City from all across the nation to see.

The Executive Director of Hot August Nights provided us with a statement regarding the split with the Grand Sierra Resort.

"We had conversations with Grand Sierra Resort this year and invited them to continue their involvement with Hot August Nights. They chose a different path, and we respect that. We’re grateful for our past partnership and sincerely appreciate the Grand Sierra Resort employees who worked alongside us over the years to help make the event successful.

We know this news came as a surprise to many volunteers and community members, and we truly appreciate the outpouring of support we’ve received. It’s a powerful reminder of how much Hot August Nights means to people.

As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we’re excited to bring Hot August Nights back downtown under the Reno Arch with Eldorado Resort Casino, Silver Legacy Resort Casino, Circus Circus Reno, and Caesars Entertainment Reno as our main host venue, alongside continued partnerships with Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, J Resort, Whitney Peak Hotel, and an expanded presence in Sparks with the Nugget Casino Resort.

Our focus remains on creating a unique experience that only Hot August Nights can deliver, and we can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with everyone who loves Hot August Nights.”

The Chief Marketing Officer at the GSR, Christpher Abraham, told us, "God bless them. We wish them the very best of luck down there. And we're excited to host our own event, called Street Heat."

Abraham also said the Grand Sierra had tried very hard to maintain a relationship with Hot August Nights, but in the end, both wanted different things and went after them.
