Trick-or-treater's at governor's mansion

Tonight, at the governor's mansion in Carson City, families were able to celebrate Nevada Day and Halloween trick-or-treating with the governor and first lady.

We spoke to the Mansion Coordinator, Kristen Dillard, about the event.

"We have thousands of kids and families, and the governor and first lady hand out candy. We have music, we have fire dancers. We have hula dancers. It's a great event."

The streets were packed with people of all ages dressing up and saying, "Trick-or-treat!" Families began lining up to trick-or-treat as early as 4 P.M.

Community members touched on how special Halloween nights can be.

"It's all about the community. One thing about Nevada that we find ourselves in is being able to share this experience through all our friends and family and be able to create, really, the best Halloween experience in all of the nation, in my opinion," says Herson Martinez.

"This is like one of the events that I think Carson City's most known for. You know, it's like this is the big event of the year for Carson City," says James Cevallos.

Adults, teens, and kids were all dressed up in their favorite costumes and Halloween attire. There were mimes, ghosts, monsters, and princesses; we saw it all tonight. We even asked some of the trick-or-treaters what their favorite candy was.

"I really like chocolate," says Robert.

Max, another trick-or-treater, also says, "I like sour straws or Reese's Pieces."

"Probably Jolly Ranchers, Almond Joys, and Whoppers," says Kellie.

"Peanut butter cups," says another trick-or-treater, Sydney.

Trick-or-treaters likely have enough candy to last them until Christmas, if their parents let them.
