If you saw the storms this past weekend, you know of the downpour and flash floods the Reno area received.
This inclement weather caused flooding, especially in areas where many of the homeless community have camps set up; whether in tents or in uncovered areas.
Local nonprofit the Eddy House, a young adult homeless shelter, was out doing local outreach by providing clothes and other resources to those effected by the storms.
Jillian Keller, Chief Operations Officer of the Eddy House, talked about the efforts of their Outreach team led by Jose Silonxotichl: "He took dry clothes like shirts and socks, and just started to survey the damage that they experienced".
The Eddy House not only offers aid via these local outreaches, but is a safe haven for young adults experiencing homelessness; offering a place to stay, store your items, and resources for working toward employment.
Keller says, "We are here 365 and folks need help all year round. And so whether it is, you know, the rain and snow in the winter or it's the heat and the flash floods in the summer, people need help."Â
This nonprofit continues to serve the homeless community in multiple ways whether it is offering a place to stay for young adults or giving fresh clothes to those impacted by the floods.Â
