A class action lawsuit against the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix was filed in a Nevada state court Friday night on behalf of 35,000 people who have not received a refund after they purchased tickets to Thursday's canceled practice run.

The practice was canceled nine minutes after it started due to a dislodged manhole cover on the track. The dislodged cover damaged two racecars and stopped the race immediately.

The event was scheduled to restart at 1:30 a.m., but did not start again until 3:30 a.m. None of the attendees were allowed to watch the event live as they were escorted off the property at 1:30 a.m.

The lawsuit is alleging a breach of contract, negligence, and deceptive trade practices against the defendants.

“We will vindicate the rights of the fans that traveled great distances and paid small fortunes to attend, but were deprived of the experience,” said Dimopoulos Law Firm owner and lead attorney, Steve Dimopoulos.

The lawsuit’s defendants are Liberty Media Corporation DBA Formula One Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix and TAB Contractors, Inc.
