The Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) will award scholarships to 40 young adults at the Inspire Scholarship Ceremony at South 40 on Wednesday.
The Inspire Scholarship Program supports young adults who have survived childhood cancer or are currently undergoing treatment in pursuing higher education.
This year, NNCCF is awarding more scholarships than ever before in the program’s history, bringing the total amount awarded since the program began in 2012 to more than $1.1 million.
The program has supported recipients with aspirations to become nurses, pilots, architects, beauticians and more.
This year’s scholarships will be applied to a variety of accredited universities, colleges, and vocational and technical schools.
Students plan to attend institutions including the University of Nevada, Reno, Arizona State University, University of California San Diego and Truckee Meadows Community College.
Fields of study include nursing, journalism, engineering, social work and others.
The Inspire Scholarship Ceremony will be attended by scholarship recipients and their families, as well as NNCCF staff and donors.
