The 39th annual Rock 'n' Reno Challenge Cup, the nation’s oldest National Senior Qualifying tournament, has drawn 193 teams from 14 states, including Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, and North Carolina, as well as Canada.
The event begins today and will run through June 1.
Teams are competing in men’s age divisions from 40 to 85 and women’s age divisions from 40 to 60.
The first weekend of play, from May 23 to 25, features the Men’s 50’s and 55’s divisions.
Following a one-day break on Memorial Day, the Men’s 65 to 85 divisions will take the field from May 27 to 29.
The final session, from May 30 to June 1, will include the Men’s 40’s and 60’s as well as the Women’s divisions.
Games will be held at Golden Eagle Sports Complex, the Reno Softball Complex, and Centennial Softball Complex in Carson City.
The tournament is expected to bring more than 3,000 players to the area and inject over $14 million into the local economy.
The Rock 'n' Reno Challenge Cup serves as a qualifying event for the World Championships in Las Vegas, scheduled for Sept. 15 to Oct. 5.
That event is the largest softball tournament in the United States, with 650 teams from the U.S., Canada, and international co-ed groups.
Winners of each division in Reno will receive invitations to the Tournament of Champions in Florida in January 2026.
