Lyon County fight

Two 18-year-olds face felony strangulation charges after being involved in a fight with juveniles that was later posted on social media.

Lyon County deputies say through an investigation, they identified everyone involved in the fight.

As a result, 18-year-old Silver Springs resident Michael Rogers was arrested and booked into the Lyon County Jail on one felony count of Battery by Strangulation and one felony count of Child Abuse.

Deputies also identified 18-year-old Silver Springs resident Austin McGuigan, who was subsequently arrested and booked on one felony count of Battery by Strangulation and one felony count of Child Endangerment.

They also say juvenile participants will also be held accountable through the appropriate legal process but since they are underage their identities won't be released.

"The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the following: Once you turn 18, you are legally an adult and will be treated as such. What some may view as a “fight” or something to record and post on social media can quickly become a felony criminal offense with serious, life-altering consequences," the sheriff's office says in a statement.
