Amazon says it has closed on land in Elko County for a new delivery station that will also create about 100 jobs.

The company says the new building will help "accelerate deliveries across northeast Nevada while creating flexible job opportunities for local residents."

Packages are shipped to the station from nearby fulfillment and sorting center and then loaded up onto truck for delivery.

“Wells is well-positioned for smart and sustainable growth. Amazon’s decision to invest here shows that national employers are taking notice, and this project will help spark even more development across Elko County,” said Wells Mayor Gary Pollock.

Since 2010, Amazon says it has invested more than $14.5 billion across the state, including infrastructure projects and employee compensation.

There's no immediate word on when the building will open for business.
