The American Red Cross of Northern Nevada is assisting a family of eight, including six children after a house fire on Friday.

The American Red Cross says our team is addressing the family’s needs by providing support, such as replacing prescription medications and securing safe accommodations.

They also added, in the following days and weeks, we will continue to help them by connecting them with community resources to aid in their recovery.

Sparks firefighters are battling a blaze at a house on Chaucer Street.

The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District is providing support on the fire, and REMSA is on the scene, providing standby emergency medical services.

The fire is currently under control, according to a release from the City of Sparks.

The cause is under investigation.

People are asked to avoid the area.
