A group of local youth got an inside look at the construction industry through a career exploration tour focused on the people, projects, and opportunities shaping Northern Nevada.

The Nevada Chapter Associated General Contractors partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows for its third Life and Workplace Readiness construction career exploration tour, giving students a closer look at possible career paths in the industry.

Hosted by Resource Development Company, students toured a new elementary school being built behind Echo Loder Elementary School. During the visit, they learned about the construction process, career opportunities, and the teamwork needed to complete a major project.

The tour ended with a behind-the-scenes visit to RDC's Sparks office and fabrication shop, where students saw the collaboration that happens before and beyond the jobsite.

The event is part of AGC's ongoing workforce development efforts to introduce young people to careers available throughout the construction industry. Through partnerships with organizations like BGCTM and support from AGC member companies, students gain exposure to career paths they may not have otherwise considered.

"We are incredibly grateful to Resource Development Company for opening their doors and investing their time in the next generation," said Carisalynn Stratton, Workforce Development Manager for Nevada Chapter AGC. "Experiences like these allow students to see firsthand that construction offers exciting, innovative, and meaningful career opportunities. The conversations they have with industry professionals today can help shape the workforce of tomorrow."

Nevada's construction industry continues to experience strong demand for skilled professionals across careers, including skilled trades, engineering, project management, estimating, safety, and operations. Programs like this create opportunities for these students while strengthening the workforce that builds Nevada’s communities.
