On Wednesday, the Bureau of Land Management gave its approval to an Esmeralda County lithium exploration project.

213 acres of public property in Clayton Valley, south of Silver Peak, are part of the project.

Schlumberger Technology Corporation has been granted permission to build, run, maintain, and eventually decommission exploration wells over ten years.

A brine mine's groundwater is supported by the project without the requirement for big evaporation ponds.

Over the project's duration, 95 new jobs will be created in Esmeralda County.

Lithium was classified as a vital mineral by the previous Trump administration in 2019, and on March 20, President Trump signed Executive Order 14241, "Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production."

This exploratory initiative for lithium bolsters the president's focus on shortening permission periods, boosting domestic mineral output, and releasing American energy.
