Lots of people are planning to go out camping to celebrate the long holiday weekend.
Washoe Lake State Park Supervisor Jennifer Dawson says that their entire campground is in great condition.
All the campsites are clean and dry with no mud or other signs of winter aftermath. But if you didn't make a reservation ahead of time, you're going to have to look for a different campground.
"So we have 50 sites plus 2 group areas and they will be full for Memorial Day weekend," said Dawson.
She tells us right now they have no fire restrictions. They only ask that campers keep their fires in the fire pits and keep a close eye on windy conditions.
All state park trails are open for anyone who plans to go hiking.
"We have some great trail systems here in the park. You can explore sand dunes, and beaches, and hillsides with gazebos, so there's a lot of fun here at Washoe lake to be had," said Dawson.
She explains that it's also important to have a plan and make sure to stay hydrated and keep some snacks on you when hiking.
AÂ couple of visitors from the bay area tell us what they're looking forward to doing this weekend.
"I love sitting at the fire, you know smores, and hanging out at the lake and that stuff," said Brooklyn Gugliemo.
"I love everything nature like hiking, biking, paddle boarding," said Addison Weber.
A few people with lots of camping experience share some advice when you go camping.
"Make a list, keep a good list," said Jennifer Harriman.
"Bring a lot of clothes, varieties," adds Bryn Gugliemo.
"Make sure equipment is in good shape, and we've had problems with equipment breaking down which just ruins everything, and we plan things out because you don't want to get caught," said Bud Freeman, a visitor from Seattle.
With this weekend kicking off the camping season, Dawson wants to remind everyone of the safety rules and restrictions during their stay.
"We do have quiet hours and we do enforce those," she said. "So that starts at 10 p.m., so that means no generators, no loud parties, or anything like that. That's probably our biggest one is quiet hours."
Dawson recommends looking into making reservations ahead of time if you're thinking of camping on a holiday weekend.
