An early morning car crash sent debris into multiple apartments in Sparks, prompting a police response and the arrest of an 18-year-old man.

Just after 3:00 a.m. Monday, officers from the Sparks Police Department responded to a report of a car that had crashed into an apartment building near Rock Boulevard and 15th Street.

When officers arrived, they found that a car had collided with the building, causing moderate damage.

According to investigators, the driver, identified as 18-year-old Noe Lara-Marquez, was traveling north on Rock Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car.

The car hit a jersey barrier on the east side of the road, slid along it, tipped to one side, went through a fence, and struck the apartment building. Two additional apartments were hit by flying debris, police said.

No injuries were reported by residents or the driver.

Lara-Marquez was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges of DUI involving alcohol, minor in consumption of alcohol, driving without a driver's license, and failure to maintain a lane.
