The Human Trafficking Prevention Alliance (HTPA) is hosting the second annual “Step Up Against Trafficking” event at the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City.

The event coincides with World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and is aimed at raising awareness, supporting survivors, and encouraging community action against human trafficking.

It will take place on July 30 at 3:30 p.m.

Building on last year’s turnout, this year’s event is focused on expanding participation and engagement, particularly in addressing child sex trafficking and exploitation.

“We are in a war — and our children are the battlefield,” said Janet Lombardo, founder of HTPA. “Predators are organized, strategic, and relentless. It’s time our communities become just as prepared, just as united, and just as determined to protect our children. This is not someone else’s problem — it’s ours. And it will take all of us to win this fight.”

The event will feature speakers and opportunities for community engagement.

HTPA is encouraging educators, organizations, and members of the public to attend and take part in efforts to raise awareness and help protect the future of children.
