Carson City Health & Human Services (CCHHS) will be conducting ground fogging as part of their Mosquito Abatement Program.
The fogging will start on Wednesday, July 9 at around 9:00 p.m., and end around 11:00 p.m.
It'll take place in northeast Carson City, including the neighborhoods of Riverview Park and Empire Ranch Golf Course.
During the ground fogging, CCHHS is asking residents to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed. Also, turn off air conditioning units and bring outdoor pet food and water dishes inside.
CCHHS says that while fogging can significantly reduce the mosquito population, they've also provided tips to protect yourself from mosquito bites, including:
- Staying indoors during dusk and dawn, when mosquitos are most active
- Wear protective clothing, button collars and tuck trousers into boots or socks
- Make sure that door and window screens in your home are in good repair
- Use insect repellent
