The Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation will host its annual Dozers & Dirt event on Saturday, September 20.

The event will take place at the Rilite Aggregate pit in South Reno. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with gates closing at 2:30 p.m.

Children 17 and younger will have the opportunity to operate more than 35 pieces of heavy construction equipment and view displays that include a RAVEN helicopter, a bomb unit, police cars, fire trucks, and other emergency vehicles.

“Join us and get dirty digging in your shovels to support local children battling cancer,” the organization said in its event announcement.

Admission for children who want to operate equipment is $100 and includes a t-shirt, backpack, and water pouch while supplies last.

Non-riding children may attend with a $20 entry wristband. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and a waiver is required for entry. Parents and guardians are included with a child’s ticket and do not need to purchase a separate admission.

The event will also feature eight food trucks, three dessert trucks, and two beverage trucks. Closed-toe shoes are required for all attendees.

All proceeds benefit the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation, which is the only nonprofit in the region solely focused on helping children and families affected by childhood cancer. The foundation supports families through programs such as the Family Assistance Fund, Inspire Scholarship program, Hope for the Holidays, and No More Chemo celebrations.

Special thanks were given to the presenting sponsor, Ford Motor Company, and to the planning committee of 25 community leaders from the safety, buildings, and trades industries. Last year, the event hosted nearly 4,000 children.

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available at www.nvchildrenscancer.org/dozers-dirt.
