The City of Reno is inviting you to celebrate the grand opening of the Mira Loma Sports Courts Reconstruction Project.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 15, at 11 a.m. at Mira Loma Park. The event will feature remarks and complimentary treats from Ward 3 Councilmember Miguel Martinez.

According to the city, this project is a significant investment in the longevity and accessibility of one of Reno’s most popular neighborhood parks.

This park was built in 1982, with the park facilities outdated and are deteriorating, with limited accessibility functions.

Also, according to the city, Mira Loma Park was identified as a priority location for substantial recreational surface repairs. The city says these upgrades will let the park continue to serve local residents safely in the future.

“This project is a great example of how investing in our parks strengthens our neighborhoods,” said Ward 3 Councilmember Miguel Martinez. “The new Mira Loma sports courts provide more opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities to get outside, stay active, and enjoy the best of Reno’s community spirit.”

For the project, $788,888 was approved in the Fiscal Year 2024–2025 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and funded through Residential Construction Tax (RCT) District 4. The Reno City Council awarded the construction contract to West Coast Paving, Inc. in April 2025.
