The City of Reno and the Downtown Reno Partnership will unveil a new Rolling Recreation trailer on Tuesday at noon at Locomotion Plaza, designed to activate both public and private spaces throughout the downtown corridor.
The launch follows recent recognition for the Rolling Recreation initiative, which earned the Program Excellence Award from the Nevada Recreation and Park Society. The award highlights the program’s community-driven model and its reported impact on reducing crime in the downtown area while promoting safety and connection.
“Rolling Recreation is a creative and effective way to bring people together and make our Biggest Little City even more vibrant,” said Vice Mayor Kathleen Taylor. “We’re proud to partner with the Downtown Reno Partnership to expand our presence downtown and make recreation more accessible to everyone.”
Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, the trailer features a custom-designed wrap and is co-branded with the Downtown Reno Partnership. The DRP is supporting the trailer through a three-year sponsorship.
“This is an investment in Reno’s future,” said Neoma Jardon, Executive Director of the Downtown Reno Partnership. “By supporting Rolling Recreation, we’re bringing positive energy into our downtown spaces, helping local businesses thrive, and giving people more reasons to explore and enjoy all that downtown has to offer.”
The trailer will be part of 20 activations this year, increasing to 40 annually in 2026 and 2027. Weekly appearances will include:
Mondays at Glow Plaza
Tuesdays at Locomotion Plaza
Wednesdays and Sundays at Evans Park
Thursdays at West Street Plaza
Sundays at Greater Nevada Field during Reno Aces home games, or at Evans Park when the team is away
Activations will take place in various spaces, including parks, plazas, and businesses that are part of the Downtown Reno Business Improvement District.
Attendees can expect free programming such as games, art projects, and fitness classes. Details and updates are available on the City of Reno’s Park Activities webpage.
