Valley Wood Park

The City of Reno will unveil six new educational signs at Valley Wood Park in Northwest Reno on Thursday, highlighting the park’s gardens and pollinator habitats.

The signs are located in the Pollinator Meadow, Hummingbird Garden, Herb Meadow, Food Forest, Butterfly Garden and Pollinator Garden, and the Native and Drought-Tolerant Garden.

The project was a collaboration between the City and the Valley Wood Wildlife Gardens Task Force, which works to educate the public about pollinators, native plants, and sustainable gardening.

The idea for the signs came from the Task Force and was funded through a discretionary donation from Councilmember Kathleen Taylor.

City employees from the Parks and Recreation, Communications, and Maintenance & Operations departments designed, fabricated, and installed the signs.

“I’m so proud to debut these new signs at Valley Wood Park as they will provide opportunities for visitors to learn more about the park’s habitats and pollinators,” said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. “Thank you to everyone who came together to help keep this outdoor space vibrant and special for years to come.”
