On Monday, a driver who was driving on the wrong side of the road collided with a patrol car, resulting in a DUI arrest.
According to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office in an online post, deputies received a report of a car driving on the wrong side of the road at around 11:30 p.m. on March 31.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the car, which was traveling against the flow of traffic.
The driver refused to stop when deputies tried to make a traffic stop on the car and kept driving slowly in the direction of the patrol car and eventually struck the patrol car's front bumper and came to a stop.
Medical personnel evaluated the driver, identified as Johna Young, on the spot, and after being cleared medically, deputies determined that Young was impaired.
Young was then taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says it is dedicated to maintaining community safety by apprehending and prosecuting people who choose to drive under the influence.
And asks people to please make use of public transit, ridesharing services, or a designated sober driver.
