WC Library 2025 Summer Reading Challenge

The Washoe County Library System has launched its 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, themed “Color Our World,” running from June 1 through July 31.

The program encourages readers of all ages to engage in reading and creative activities, with opportunities to earn prizes.

Children and teens 18 and under can earn up to three free books by signing up, reading for 600 minutes, and completing eight activities.

Adults 19 and older can earn up to three free items from library book sales by meeting similar criteria and will receive a voucher for each item.

Vouchers can also be redeemed for up to $3 off one item at the Friends of Washoe County Library book sales on May 31–June 8 and August 2–10.

Vouchers must be redeemed by August 31, 2025, cannot be replaced or redeemed for cash, and are limited to three per participant.

The challenge aims to inspire creativity through various artistic expressions.

Readers are encouraged to visit libraries to discover new books, attend plays or musical performances, participate in arts and crafts programs, or explore gallery exhibits.

Most Washoe County Library branches will host kickoff parties between June 3 and 9, featuring games and activities, along with opportunities to sign up and learn more about the challenge.

On Saturday, June 7, the Incline Village Library will celebrate 20 years at its current location with a Block Party and Summer Reading Challenge Kickoff. "Readers are invited to enjoy a free hot dog, play a game or two of cornhole, and enjoy many other fun activities at this outdoor community event."

To participate, readers can download the Beanstack app or visit a library for a reading log.

Participants will receive prize notifications through Beanstack or can submit completed logs to any Washoe County Library location to claim prizes by August 31.
