The Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has approximately $10 million in funding available through the Conserve Nevada Program.

The Conserve Nevada Program was supported by a voter initiative that invests in conservation work and outdoor recreation around the state of Nevada. During the last legislative session, Governor Lombardo and the Legislature made a historic investment into the program with the approval of these grants.

"We're looking at supporting projects across all of Nevada. So all of our counties, our cities, our local governments, non-profits. The grant program is available to any of those types of entities to support outdoor recreation infrastructure. This could be trails. This could be park improvements. It can also support things like wildfire mitigation or restoration," says Brandon Bishop, Program Manager of Conserve Nevada.

The $10 million is the largest amount of funding for grants that Conserve Nevada has ever received. The program has already helped preserve around 50,000 acres of land across the state and has constructed over 100 miles of trails throughout Nevada.

Some of the projects that have been funded in the past by the program include the Tahoe Meadows Boardwalk, the development of the Canepa Ranch Trailhead and the construction of the recently built visitor center in Valley of Fire State Park.

"We've had improvements at every single state park in the state, at every wildlife management area. People have done amazing work with this, and they've helped to leverage millions in funding from private and federal funding sources, to really put these projects on the ground in Nevada."
