The Reno City Council upheld the Planning Commission’s decision to grant a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for J Resort Festival Grounds on Wednesday, opening the door for a range of outdoor festivals, concerts, and recreational events.
The CUP approval allows for “Amusement or Recreation, Outside” and “Live Entertainment” land uses at the festival grounds, which are located south of Third Street, east of Ralston Street, and west of North Arlington Avenue.
The space will accommodate up to 15,000 attendees, making it a potential hub for large-scale public events in the city.
Under the approved conditions, outdoor live entertainment can take place until 10 p.m. as a standard, with extended hours allowed on Fridays and Saturdays until 11 p.m.
Additionally, the CUP permits up to two events per year where live entertainment can run until 12:15 a.m.
The approval marks a significant step in the development of the J Resort Festival Grounds, which aims to host a variety of events throughout the year.
