UPDATE - January 21:
Storey County Sheriff's deputies responded to the report of a crash involving a single car on State Route 341 near Seven Mile Canyon Road on January 20 just after 9:30 a.m.
In an online post, Storey County Sheriff's Deputies say that when they arrived at the scene of the crash, the car was unoccupied, but they found a wallet inside it containing a driver's license belonging to 33-year-old Jared Rogers of Reno.
Deputies received information from their dispatch upon checking the driver's license that its owner, Rogers, had an active warrant out of Nevada Parole and Probation.Â
While searching the area for Rogers, Storey County Dispatch informed deputies that a resident on Seven Mile Canyon Road was talking to a man saying he had been involved in a crash. While deputies were en route to the resident, they were advised by their dispatch that the man had just stolen the resident's car and was leaving the area.
A short time later, the man and stolen car were found on Seven Mile Canyon Road. The man was detained and positively identified as Jared Rogers.
Rogers was taken into custody after being medically cleared and booked into the Storey County Detention Facility on charges of arrest on other agency warrants, grand larceny of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or controlled substance (1st offense), and duty to stop at the scene of a crash involving damage to vehicle or property. Rogers is currently being held on no bail per Nevada Parole and Probation.Â
