A suspected DUI driver allegedly rammed several patrol cars and nearly hit a Storey County deputy while trying to escape law enforcement Friday morning, leading to a deputy opening fire.
Nevada State Police initiated a traffic stop near the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center during for a suspected DUI driver.
The driver fled, prompting Storey County Sheriff's Office deputies to join the pursuit.
The vehicle eventually stopped on Waltham Way. As deputies attempted to contact the suspect, they say he tried to drive away, striking several patrol cars and nearly hitting a deputy.
A deputy fired a weapon during the incident. The suspect and a Storey County Sheriff's Office deputy suffered minor injuries. According to the sheriff's office, neither the suspect nor deputy were injured by gunfire.
The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Storey County Detention Facility.
The investigation is ongoing. Authorities say additional information will be released after the investigation is complete.
