Crash

A driver was taken to the hospital Monday morning after a car went off the roadway along US-50 near the Cave Rock boat landing, according to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol and the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District.

The crash was reported around 11:28 a.m. in the area of the Cave Rock boat landing and US-50.

A preliminary investigation indicates the car was traveling eastbound on US-50 when it crossed into the westbound lanes and went approximately 50 feet down an embankment.

The car sustained moderate damage, and its airbags deployed.

Tahoe Douglas Fire dispatched one truck, one engine, two rescue ambulances, a medical helicopter, and a battalion chief to the scene.

Fire crews worked with Nevada State Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to block traffic, stabilize the car, extricate the driver, and provide emergency medical care.

The driver, who was the only occupant, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Nevada State Police.

U.S. 50 remained open, though one travel lane was temporarily closed when a tow truck arrived to remove the car.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol.

Authorities say impairment is not suspected.
