Even a moment of distraction behind the wheel can lead to serious consequences, and local officials are again reminding drivers across Northern Nevada to keep their attention on the road.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in an online post, the message is aimed at preventing distracted driving in Douglas County and beyond.
The post included a direct warning to drivers, stating:
“Don’t let a text be your next traffic stop. Distracted driving is dangerous—and enforceable. Our deputies are watching for drivers who aren’t watching the road. Stay alert, stay alive.”
The post highlights common distractions, including phone use and other activities that take attention away from driving, and encourages drivers to keep full focus on the road to help prevent crashes.
Officials are asking drivers to make safe choices every time they get behind the wheel, especially as traffic volumes increase in the region.
