Witches, warlocks, and decorated bicycles are set to hit the streets of Fallon for a Halloween-season tradition that brings plenty of spooky fun while helping animals in need.
The seventh annual Fallon Witches’ Ride is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, with registration starting at 10 a.m. and the ride beginning at 11 a.m. at The Grid Market & Brewery, 2030 Reno Highway.
The event raises money for the City of Fallon Animal Shelter, with proceeds helping cover veterinary expenses for animals in need.
Organizer Tiffany Picotte took over the event in 2020 and combined it with the celebration of The Grid OG’s first anniversary. Since then, the ride has continued to bring residents and local businesses together for a day of costumes, bicycles and community support.
“The animal shelter has been the beneficiary every year because we wanted this event to have a purpose beyond just being a fun day,” said organizer Tiffany Picotte. “The ride is something people look forward to, and it gives us a chance to bring the community and local businesses together while helping animals that may need veterinary care before they can find their forever homes.”
Participants are encouraged to dress as witches or warlocks and decorate their bicycles for the ride through Fallon.
Riders age 21 and older can also take part in a poker ride, which includes stops at local businesses throughout the community.
This year’s participating businesses include:
The Grid Market & Brewery
The Bookish Meeple
Bayou Bites
Rush Coffee Co.
Rhythm Tap House
Bites and Bottles
Cranberry Cottage with CC’s Speakeasy
P’s & Q’s Tavern
Maine St. Cigar
Stone Cabin Coffee
The OG Grid
The route primarily follows Fallon’s back streets, giving riders a chance to visit businesses throughout the community. Roads will remain open to regular traffic, so participants must follow Nevada bicycle and traffic laws, use caution around vehicles, and remain alert throughout the ride.
There will also be a chance to take home some prizes. Every participant will be entered for a chance to win The Grid bike, and additional raffle tickets will be available for other donated prizes.
Community members and visitors from across Northern Nevada are encouraged to participate, cheer on riders, visit participating businesses, and support the City of Fallon Animal Shelter.
