The mother of the teen suspected in a double stabbing in Fernley has been released from the hospital.Â
The suspect, 19-year-old Adam Miller appeared in Fernley District Court Tuesday morning. During the short appearance, he was scheduled to undergo a competency hearing on January 13, 2025.
According to the criminal report, Miller allegedly stabbed his father, Lance Miller in the neck and chest, killing him. His unidentified mother was transported to a hospital where she recovered.
Authorities say Miller surrendered after a 30+ hour manhunt that prompted temporary school closures and shelter-in-place orders in neighborhoods.

DECEMBER 19, 2024:
Lyon County deputies say a 30+ hour manhunt is now over after a teen stabbing suspect was found by SWAT inside a barn early Thursday afternoon.
Deputies say 19-year-old Adam Miller surrendered and then was transported to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation.Â
Miller is suspected of stabbing his father and mother Wednesday morning in Fernley. They are believed to be his adoptive parents.
Earlier, authorities said that they narrowed their search to about 16 homes in Fernley, but did not immediately say if Miller was found within that area.
Deputies say they used cell phone technology, along with help from the FBI, to eventually find Miller. About 25 deputies helped in the search along with a helicopter.
Thirty hours after a shelter-in-place was issued for a new area Thursday morning, Sheriff Brad Pope announced that Miller's father had died while his mother is expected to survive.Â
Miller was believed to be in the area of Sweetwater Road - Richards Way - Drayer Lane - Park Court - Smithridge Lane - Barndale Road - Alta Vista Way - in Fernley. And because of that, the shelter-in-place issued remains.Â
Deputies say the 19-year-old is considered to be 'armed and dangerous'.
Deputies say that they believe he 'hunkered down' somewhere either in a manmade dwelling or some type of bunker, they say it was possible that he could be hiding in an outbuilding, trailer, or RV.Â
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says the teen has a violent history and has been arrested before.
Earlier, the Lyon County School District announced that area schools would be open for Thursday.
The district says they are committed to providing a secure environment for learning, and that due to uncertainty surrounding the safety of neighborhoods in the area, they will not provide transportation services to and possibly from school.
When the school day started, a lockout was implemented to maintain the safety of all students and staff until Miller is in LCSO custody.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is still actively searching for a teenage suspect who allegedly stabbed both their parents on Wednesday.

While deputies are still searching for this armed and dangerous suspect, they have advised that all Fernley students will be released from school, but they advise every student must be picked up by their guardian, and that guardian must provide identification. Â
Deputies say that no buses are running and no student will be released without a guardian.
Deputies say to expect delays picking up students as there are major back-ups around all the area schools.Â

Deputies say Adam Miller should be considered armed and dangerous and has a violent history - and to call 911 if you see him. He was last seen wearing red sweatpants.
Deputies say that Washoe County Sheriff's Office has Raven in the air searching for Miller along with other agencies, road closures will remain in place as the suspect is still on the loose and believed to be in the areas that are blocked off.Â
Deputies say the stabbing happened around 11 a.m. on Wednesday and there's no immediate word on the condition of the parents of the 19-year-old suspect.
On Facebook, Lyon County deputies initially said they were responding to a 'major law enforcement incident' on Farm District Road near Clearwater Parkway.Â
Deputies also say, 'schools are on lockdown at this time.' Residents are being asked to shelter-in-place.
Farm District Road is currently closed in both directions from Jessica Lane to Desert Lakes Drive.
