A massive blaze spotted by a ski area camera left firefighters hurt and a home heavily damaged.
Flames tore through a multi-story home in Meyers early Friday, sending two firefighters to the hospital and drawing a response from multiple agencies.
According to the Lake Valley Fire Protection District in an online post, at 1:44 a.m. this morning, crews, along with South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, CAL FIRE Amador El Dorado Unit, El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, and CHP South Lake Tahoe personnel, responded to a structure fire on Ulmeca Street.
When crews arrived, they found a large multi-story residential structure with a heavy amount of smoke and fire coming from the second floor, according to the district.
The fire was so large that the Alert California Wildfire camera located at Heavenly Ski Area alerted to it.
The home was undergoing renovation and sustained major damage.
Two firefighters were injured while fighting the fire and were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Fire officials did not release details about the extent of their injuries.
One person was staying in the home at the time of the fire but was able to escape without injury.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
