The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a flash flood watch and a severe thunderstorm warning for several parts of the region on Sunday.

The flash flood watch is in effect for the greater Reno, Sparks, Carson City, and Minden areas, as well as northern Washoe County, including Markleeville, Stateline, Empire, and Verdi. It is also in effect for the greater Lake Tahoe area, including South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, and Incline Village. Virginia City, Gerlach, Glenbrook, and Gardnerville are also included in the watch.

The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. on Sunday.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for southern Washoe County, including Cold Springs, Verdi, Mogul, Lemmon Valley, Golden Valley, and U.S. 395 at the Nevada-California border.

Sierra County and southeastern Lassen County in California are also covered by the warning.

High winds are expected, as well as hail. There is potential for each of these things to cause damage.
