US Marshal joint arrest

A dangerous fugitive was captured in a joint effort by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service Nevada Violent Offender Task Force on March 4, 2025.

On February 8, 2020, Guillermo Verano-Cruz was charged with aggravated sexual assault in Mexico, and a warrant was issued.

Mexican officials asked the U.S. Marshals Service to help them find and capture 46-year-old Guillermo Verano-Cruz, who, in addition to their warrant, had an active ICE administrative deportation warrant, was known to have a lengthy criminal record, and had already been deported three times prior, on February 28, 2025.

After his car was seen on Highway 50 in Carson City on March 4, 2025, Verano was taken into custody without incident by ICE and the Nevada Violent Offender Task Force.

The arrest was made with assistance from the sheriff's offices in Carson City and Douglas County.

Due to the Mexican foreign fugitive warrant, Verano was taken into custody.

After being found to have violated U.S. immigration regulations, another person in Verano's car was taken into custody by ICE.
